| Las Palmas is located on one of the Canary Islands called Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria is situated between Tenerife and Fuerteventura. Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria and it is in the north of the Island. It is also a province of the Canary Islands. The city of Las Palmas has an inhabitancy of around 370.000 people and is rich in architecture. It has been ranked as in the top ten for the most urbanised city in Spain. Las Palmas is a very cosmopolitan city and has some lovely beaches around it. Las Palmas airport is only about 20 minutes away from the city Las Palmas itself. It is an international airport and is easy to reach. There are many flights going to and from it everyday. |

| Gran Canaria itself has a very hot climate with the average temperature in the winter being as high as 20 degrees Celsius and in the summer the average temperature being around 30 degrees Celsius. It really does have its own microclimate. The terrain in Las Palmas is very varied, with it being so hot there are some dry rugged areas but also there are mountains where at the peak of them you can occasionally see snow! As the centre of the island is about 2000 metres high. |
